How is the BCG case interview different from McKinsey?

BCG cases are candidate-led: after the prompt you are expected to state a hypothesis, build a custom MECE framework, explicitly choose which branch to investigate first, and proactively request the data to test it. The interviewer acts as a sounding board and data gatekeeper, so if you do not push the analysis forward the case stalls. McKinsey is interviewer-led, steering you through a predetermined set of questions and exhibits. Practically, you must "drive the bus" at BCG: articulate the "so what" of every number and declare your next step out loud. Passive execution, even with correct math, sinks your case-leadership score.

What does the BCG online assessment involve?

There are two digital steps. First, the Consultant Career Assessment, administered by SHL and triggered 30-90 minutes after you submit, with a hard 48-hour window; it tests personality, situational judgment and basic numerical reasoning. Second, the Casey chatbot online case, sent roughly one to three weeks after the deadline with a 3-7 day window: a 25-30 minute interactive case of 8-10 sequential, non-reversible questions spanning structuring, business math, data interpretation and critical thinking, finished with a 1-minute prep and 1-minute recorded video recommendation.
